One suspect shot, killed by Port Angeles police

According to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement responded to a "hold up" alarm at a Chase Bank before the shooting.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — One person is dead after they were shot and killed by Port Angeles police Friday morning.

According to the Clallam County Sheriff's Office, two PAPD officers responded to the Chase Bank on Front Street after being notified of a "hold up" alarm. When they arrived, they encountered a man who was reportedly armed with a handgun.

Officials say the man was non-compliant and "was associated with the reported bank hold up." The police then shot the suspect just before 10 a.m.

Front Street, between Lincoln Street and Oak Street, and Laurel Street, between First Street and Railroad Avenue, will be closed for around 12 hours while authorities investigate, according to the City of Port Angeles.

The Port Angeles Police Department confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident.

The Kitsap Clallam Incident Response Team is taking over the investigation. PAPD will later conduct its own internal investigation.
