SEATTLE — Westbound Interstate 90 fully reopened to traffic Thursday afternoon, almost four hours after a recycling truck rolled and blocked the highway.
Transportation officials warned that drivers should still be prepared for delays and consider alternate routes as the backup begins to clear.
Washington State Patrol trooper Rick Johnson said in a post on X just before 1:30 p.m. that the driver of a recycling truck was injured after it rolled over near Rainier Avenue. The extent of the driver's injuries is unknown, Johnson said in the post.
All lanes of I-90 were blocked for several hours, but the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) said the freeway had fully reopened around 5:20 p.m.
It is unclear what caused the recycling truck to tip over along I-90.
