PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A 21-year-old woman was charged Wednesday in connection to a fatal car crash in Port Orchard.
The alleged driver, Baylijo Williams, faces charges of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault for the crash that killed a man and injured several others.
Williams also has a separate reckless driving charge pending from January of this year. She is being held on $1 million bail at the Kitsap County Jail.
The crash happened just north of Southeast Devonshire Place around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5.
According to probable cause documents, Williams crashed her Chevrolet Camaro into a vehicle in front of her. An adult man was killed at the scene.
The driver and a passenger in the car that was hit are still being treated at Harborview Medical Center. The driver is in critical condition.
A passenger sitting in the front seat of Williams' car was also injured and had to be taken to Tacoma General Hospital. One other passenger in Williams' car suffered minor injuries and a third passenger fled the scene before police arrived.
Nearly two hours after the crash, a breathalyzer test showed her BAC level was .16, twice the legal limit in Washington. Williams also admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
The roadway was closed until 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Kitsap Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
