THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Two youths were arrested Tuesday after allegedly making threatening calls to five schools in Thurston County.

A school resource officer at Olympic View Elementary School in Lacey was informed of a voicemail left over the weekend suggesting a potential bomb threat on Tuesday, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO).

The sheriff's office worked with the Yelm Police Department, which was investigating a similar threat made to Mill Pond Elementary School on Feb. 19. Both calls came from the same location, the sheriff's office said.

Police tracked down the youths based on where the calls were placed. Police reviewed the youths' cellphones and found an app used to make hoax phone calls.

The youths were arrested and booked into Thurston County Juvenile Detention. They declined to speak with police, the sheriff's office said.

"It is imperative to underscore that threats targeting our educational institutions are unequivocally intolerable," the sheriff's office said in a press release. "As such, every reported threat will be rigorously investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law and our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our schools and communities."

During the investigation, Olympic View was found to have received a "similar threat" as "many other schools," all of which reportedly came from the same number. The other schools targeted include Rochester High School, Yelm Extension School and Ridgeline Middle School in Yelm.

There is no danger to the school, students and staff, TCSO said. The investigation is ongoing.
