Domestic violence suspect shot after charging at Snohomish County deputy

The suspect charged at deputies while holding a weapon after they entered an apartment where he was barricaded.

BOTHELL, Wash. — A Snohomish County deputy shot a domestic violence suspect who was holding a woman against her will on Wednesday night.

The suspect was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center. He is expected to survive.

Deputies responded to an apartment complex located on the 20000 block of Bothell Everett Highway at around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a domestic violence situation. When they arrived, deputies found a 29-year-old man barricaded in an apartment with a 56-year-old woman being held against her will. There was also a child in the apartment at the time, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART).

Deputies entered the apartment where the suspect was barricaded and attempted to use a Taser against him, but it didn't work. The suspect then reportedly charged at deputies with a weapon, and one of their deputies shot and injured him.

SMART is investigating the shooting.
