Man stabbed near Seattle light rail station

Police believe the incident began near the University of Washington station. A man was found stabbed near the Capitol Hill station.

SEATTLE — A man was stabbed at or near a Seattle light rail station on Monday night.

King County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Seattle Police Department officers and Seattle Fire medics responded after receiving a call reporting a stabbing or slashing at or near the Capitol Hill light rail station about 10:23 p.m. The deputies are assigned to Sound Transit’s police contract.

Deputies believe the incident began near the University of Washington light rail station, which is one stop north of Capitol Hill.

A 23-year-old man who had “significant wounds” was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The man was stable, according to Seattle Fire. The sheriff’s office said it didn’t appear he had life-threatening injuries.

One person was detained near the UW light rail station and is expected to be booked in King County Jail on suspicion of assault. Deputies do not believe any suspects are outstanding.

A Sound Transit light rail train was taken out of service because deputies said it may contain evidence.
