Base jumpers in viral video leaped from new condo building in Seattle

Base jumpers were caught in the act in Seattle’s First Hill Neighborhood and now police and building management are asking questions.

SEATTLE — It was over in just a few seconds and now the short video is making the rounds on social media.

Base jumpers were caught in the act in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood and now police and building management are asking questions.

Base jumping is a recreational sport off jumping off fixed objects. In this case the two jumpers threw themselves off a new building and quickly opened their parachutes.

Their launch pad was the newly built Graystone building – a 37-story condo building that’s only been open a few months. Building management said they’re aware of the now-viral video and are looking into how someone may have gained access to the roof.

Seattle police said officers did not respond and said no 911 call was made. However, they did say they are asking for the public’s help in identifying the jumpers.

While base jumping may not be explicitly illegal in many jurisdictions, jumpers can be charged with trespassing, if not more serious chargers.
