OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — A bomb threat caused a coastal high school to evacuate on Monday morning, authorities confirm.
Just before 9:30 a.m. Monday, Grays Harbor 911 said it received a call from someone who advised that his friend had "placed pipe bombs" on campus at North Beach Junior Senior High School and was threatening to "shoot up the school with an AR-15 rifle."
The caller told 911 that the bombs were set to detonate at noon Monday and that the friend had plans to shoot up the school after that.
North Beach says it immediately evacuated students, first to a fastpitch field and then to a bus garage when confirmed to be safe. Students eventually were loaded onto buses or picked up by their parents.
As of 10:23 a.m., the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office said it had not found anything suspicious as it investigated the school along with Ocean Shores Police Department officers.
The sheriff's office said Washington State Patrol would have its bomb squad on scene to search for explosives at some point Monday.
