LACEY, Wash. — With help from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, Lacey police arrested a 42-year-old man on Friday in connection to the shooting death of a 43-year-old Lacey resident.

The man was taken into custody in a fast food restaurant parking lot four days after the 43-year-old man was killed.

Four days earlier, officers responded to the 5500 block of Chelan Lane SE just before 9 a.m. for reports of shots fired.

Arriving Lacey officers found a man with several gunshot wounds. Medics responded to the scene, but the man died, according to Lacey police.

Lacey detectives identified the 42-year-old man as the suspect in the shooting.

Thurston police said initially the suspect resisted arrest but was taken into custody after officers used less-lethal force and contact from a K9.

The suspect was treated at a nearby hospital before being booked into the Thurston County jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

Police said additional arrests were made for people who rendered criminal assistance to the suspect, and more could occur.

Probable cause documents outline a disagreement between two neighbors that stretched over more than a month, according to a Facebook message thread, and may have involved the suspect's girlfriend.
