RENTON, Wash. — The Wilcoxson sisters, 13-year-old Matilda and 12-year-old Eloise, were remembered at a church in Renton on Friday.
Friends and family gathered for a funeral 10 days after a multi-vehicle crash that happened on March 19. Andrea Hudson was carpooling with her two kids and three others when police say she was T-boned by a driver who has been identified as 18-year-old Chase Jones.
Witnesses say he was weaving through traffic before the incident. Court documents state that he was speeding through a red light at 112 miles per hour at full throttle without braking. He was arrested and charged with four counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault and reckless driving.
The two Hudson children were badly injured. Andrea, 12-year-old Buster Brown and the Wilcoxson sisters did not survive.
One week ago, Matilda and Eloise’s mother shared memories about her girls.
"It has been such a joy to watch these kids grow up,” said Rivka Wilcoxson. "Matilda was an avid plant enthusiast and a bookworm, and Eloise loved to play fiddle tunes on her violin and go running with her bestie, Buster."
The three families who lost loved ones in the crash were already friends. Now, they are navigating the grief together.
"We believe that families can be forever. We really believe that, and we look forward to being reunited with Andrea, Matilda, Eloise, and Buster some bright and beautiful day,” said Chase Wilcoxson.
