LAKE STEVENS, Wash. — A former Snohomish County deputy was sentenced Wednesday after stealing merchandise while he was working as a security guard at Home Depot.
Jeremie Zeller, 47, of Lake Stevens pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree theft. He was ordered to serve seven days in confinement, which can be served in home detention on electronic home monitoring, according to plea agreement documents.
Zeller must also spend 24 months on probation.
Snohomish County prosecutors originally charged Zeller in December 2022 with second-degree organized retail theft after they said he stole up to $1,000 worth of merchandise over the course of several weeks the previous summer.
Zeller was working overtime as a security guard at Home Depot at the time of the thefts. Police said Zeller collected items from the store and put them at the front where he told co-workers he would pay for them before he left. However, prosecutors said surveillance video captured Zeller walking out of the store without paying for them.
Zeller resigned from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office while the case was ongoing.
