Firefighters responded just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to the Marie Anne Terrace Apartments, and found a second-floor unit with an active fire. Two apartments sustained extensive fire damage, while several others dealt with smoke or water damage.

Four families -- 10 people total --  were displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported at the scene, and the Red Cross was on site to assist those who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire was ruled to be "undetermined" by Everett Fire investigators. An undetermined cause classification means that the cause of the fire could not be proven to an acceptable level of certainty.
