Power restoration continues throughout Puget Sound after Wednesday's windstorm

Parts of western Washington could be in the dark until Saturday, or later, after a windstorm brought down trees and power lines early Wednesday.

Cleanup and restoration continue after a strong windstorm battered Puget Sound early Wednesday. Utility crews are working around the clock to restore power in parts of western Washington.

As of 2:15 p.m. Saturday, 4,067 PSE customers were still without power, and power to some might not be restored until Sunday.

In places like Preston, some homes and businesses won’t see the power come back on until Saturday, or even later. Puget Sound Energy has brought in additional line crews under its mutual aid agreements.

CenturyLink Seattle said Thursday it's still working to restore voice and internet services for customers affected by the windstorm, and work is taking longer for some areas, including Seattle, Issaquah, Snoqualmie and Orting.

The storm knocked over trees and powerlines, blocking roads across the region. Trees also fell on homes and property.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reported there were originally nearly 560,000 power outages across the region just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Power outages caused Seattle Public Schools (SPS) to cancel remote instruction on Wednesday. SPS said the outages impacted about 30% of the district’s staff and families, along with 13 SPS buildings. The district returned to remote learning on Thursday.
