SEATTLE — At American Cancer Society Discovery Shops, shoppers have an “Upscale Resale” experience, while supporting the fight against cancer. The boutique style shops carry new and gently used clothing, jewelry, purses, collectibles, small household items, and antiques.
Inventory is replenished regularly, so you’ll always find something new. Every purchase and donation helps the American Cancer Society continue their work in saving lives. All items at the shop have been donated by people like you who want to help in the fight against cancer.
Next time you are cleaning out your closet, consider donating your gently used and high-quality items to the Discovery Shop. You can drop them off at any Discovery Shop. Items donated should have at least 70% of life left in it and preferably be a high quality or name brand item. They accept all kinds of donations from clothing to housewares to collectibles as long as the item is in good, saleable condition.
“The idea is something that is going to bring in a nice amount for what we do with it, which is save lives,” says volunteer Peggy Trout.

100% of the personnel at all the Discovery Shops are volunteers, and they are always looking for more. If you have daytime hours available to volunteer to help sort and price items or assisting customers, please visit your local shop and ask about volunteering.

The American Cancer Society funds research efforts to find a cure and also offer many programs to help those fighting the disease and their caregivers. Funds also go towards their mission of advocacy and education that leads to prevention and awareness.
Being diagnosed with cancer can be one of the toughest obstacles one may encounter, and the American Cancer Society is there to support and assist. No one should have to fight alone.
