The suspect in a hit-and-run Saturday that killed a 61-year-old South Kitsap man has turned herself in.

Ali Rochelle Giannini, 29, is being held on $1 million bail in the Kitsap County Jail after turning herself in at 11:33 a.m. Monday, said Deputy Scott Wilson, spokesman for the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Michael D. Keaton, 61, was struck while walking southbound "well off the roadway" around 7 a.m. Saturday on Sidney Road near Matrix Loop, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. Keaton was wearing a bright-colored shirt and a reflective vest, KCSO reports. He was found dead on the scene.

KCSO traffic investigators determined the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Giannini is alleged to have been driving went onto the shoulder. An image of the car was captured moments before the collision by a surveillance camera at a nearby business.

Investigators traced the car to an address in Pierce County and impounded the vehicle, documenting forensic evidence that indicates it was the car involved in the crash that killed Keaton.

Giannini, following a widely publicized search, turned herself into investigators at a preappointed location accompanied by a friend, Wilson said.

Giannini was charged with felony hit-and-run causing death. She has an outstanding no-bail felony warrant out of Thurston County for possession of methamphetamine and oxycontin, as well as other warrants.
