The motorcycle lays just off the road after its driver crashed into a 10-year-old boy.

A motorcyclist hit and injured a 10-year-old boy that was leaving a school bus and crossing the street Thursday in Lake Stevens.

The bus had been stopped with red lights activated, releasing students. Traffic was stopped in both directions, according to Lake Stevens Police.

The motorcyclist saw an officer and took off at a high speed, according to police. The motorcyclist struck the student, continued a few feet up the roadway, and crashed.

The bus parked, waiting near the scene of the motorcycle crash.
