I-5 in Marysville now open after crash blocks all lanes

A hazmat team and the Department of Ecology responded to the scene after 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilt onto the road

Southbound I-5 in Marysville near Smokey Point is back open after all lanes were blocked earlier Wednesday morning due to a crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck.

A hazmat team and the Department of Ecology responded to the scene after 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilt onto the road. Medical aid, fire assistance, and the Washington State Patrol also responded to the crash.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened in an active construction zone when the semi-truck didn’t slow down in time and rear-ended a pickup truck pulling a trailer. No serious injuries are reported.

The crash blocked multiple lanes for just under three hours while crews cleared the crash and cleaned up the diesel fuel.
