If you've been in Seattle for longer than six months, you've probably heard, read, or seen something about "the big one".

We're talking about the potential large earthquake that is expected to hit the Pacific Northwest. The big question is "when"? That's a little difficult to answer other than "any time now", but we can get into specifics as to why and more of an impact question like, what we can do to be prepared.

Dr. Lucy Jones recently wrote a book called "The Big Ones: How Natural Disasters Have Shaped Us" where she goes over the impacts of large disasters and what they've done to our lives in a positive way. She also used to work for the United States Geological Survey and had a lot of insight into the science behind it.

The Nisqually quake is still fresh on a lot of people's minds around Western Washington. Many places are still retrofitting their buildings from the quake to help stabilize our high rises and limit casualties during the next quake.

Glenn Farley offers a tour of the Seattle area, showing off what places are doing to help prepare themselves for the next earthquake.
