Seahawks bring back No. 24

It's not who you think.

No. 24 is back for the Seattle Seahawks, but it's not Marshawn Lynch.

For the first time in two seasons, the Seahawks have given the jersey number that will forever be associated with Beast Mode to another player: Cornerback Mike Tyson.

The Seattle Times reports the updated numerical roster was revealed at the team's pre-draft press conference Monday.

Tyson wore No. 40 last season.

The move may go against the wishes of some current players. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin tweeted in April 2016 "Dear @Pete Carroll, We are thrilled with the new teammates. One condition. Nobody wears #24 for years to come. Sincerely, The Players."

Technically, it has been "years" -- two.

The change was not reflected on the Seahawks website as of Tuesday afternoon.

As we have seen this offseason, the Seahawks are making lots of changes including new coordinators, coaches, and letting go of outspoken players like Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett.

Giving out No. 24 to another player could be a sign of what some have speculated in this offseason of change: while head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider have embraced the players' desires to show their personalities, they may be setting an updated standard that they -- not the players -- call the shots.
