WATCH: Preschool kids learn about car ownership

"These kids will never experience a drive-in movie the way we did when we were kids," the preschool teacher says. "So, it's kind of just keeping that alive for them."
Preschoolers in Mountlake Terrace are learning about car ownership - as a piece of Americana.

Are cars becoming outdated? A Stanford researcher says many of today's children might never own a car.

Uber, growing cities and driverless vehicles are said to be bringing America's car culture to a screeching halt. With that in mind, teachers at the Brighton School in Mountlake Terrace are holding a "Celebration of Cars."

Pre-school students are making cars out of cardboard boxes. They go to driving school, through a car wash — and even hit a drive-in movie.

Brighton's early childhood director Suzanna Adams says it's a small way to preserve a piece of Americana.

"These kids will never experience a drive-in movie the way we did when we were kids," she says. "So, it's kind of just keeping that alive for them."
