Heavy snow closed both directions of I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass Sunday night into Monday morning. The interstate opened around 8 a.m. after a nine-hour closure due to snow and vehicle collisions.

WSDOT says chains are required on all vehicles traveling over Snoqualmie Pass, except vehicles with all-wheel drive.

WSDOT plans to close parts of US 2 Stevens Pass Monday morning for avalanche control. Eastbound traffic will be stopped at Scenic (milepost 58), and westbound traffic will be stopped at the summit at milepost 64. Avalanche control can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours to complete.
