Brutal assault along busy Burien street caught on video

The King County Sheriff's Office said two or three suspects assaulted the victim. When he tried to cross the street, he was shot once in the right leg.

A man was shot and assaulted along a busy road in Burien during the Monday evening commute. The assault was captured on video.

It happened along Ambaum Boulevard SW near SW 136th Street between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.

The King County Sheriff's Office said two or three suspects assaulted the victim. When he tried to cross the street, he was shot once in the right leg.

Video shot by the owner of the AM/PM across the street shows two men standing over the victim and punching him. One of the men then picks the man up repeatedly and slams him on the ground.

A responding deputy used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Sheriff's office spokesman Sgt. Ryan Abbott said doing that probably saved the victim's life. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

One of the suspects was taken into custody. At least one more escaped in a black Chrysler. The video shows the license plate number -- Washington plate C70140F.

Deputies did not immediately have a good description of the outstanding suspects, but the video shows one of them is black. appears to be in his 20s, with short, black hair and some facial hair. He was wearing a gray, zippered sweatshirt.

It's believed the suspects and victim may know each other.
