Tough commute for light rail riders at the UW station.
The escalators broke down forcing commuters to use the elevators to get up to the train platform.
That led to long lines. Sound Transit says it's not safe to let commuters walk up the broken escalators. The agency sent techs to make repairs and reopened the escalators shortly before 8 p.m.
