There are some new events at the third annual Walk’n Wag this Sunday at Lake Sammamish State Park!

The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and all dogs must be on a leash.

Jennifer Adut, Executive Director of Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, says it’s fun for the whole family.

“Whether you have dogs or not, it’s a great time,” Adut said.

A K-9 handler from the King County Sherriff’s Department will showcase dog obedience around 11 a.m., followed by a question and answer session. There will also be a judged dog show at 11:30 a.m.

The dog show is open for entry when you register for Walk’n Wag. Categories include best dressed, smallest dog, best eyes, dog/owner look-alike, and best trick.

Both of these events are at Sunset Beach, near the playground, but Walk’n Wag itself is a 3k all-access trail for dogs and walkers to explore the park, beginning at Tibbetts Beach.

Dog agility props along the way will make it fun for pets, and telescope heron viewing with a park ranger will be of special interest for people.

Walkers and park visitors alike are welcome to Doggie Village, where pet-friendly vendors will share information and services. Pet owners will receive a goodie bag as they complete their walk.

Registration is $15 for children 15 and younger, $20 for adults, or $50 for a family of four. To register, visit www.EventBrite.com and search for “Walk’n Wag.”

All proceeds benefit new amenities and beautification projects at the park.
