A suspect in a double murder at a club in Seattle's White Center neighborhood is behind bars.

The King County Sheriff's Office says Merle Charles Buchanan, 26, surrendered to police on Friday.

A night out on January 6 ended when Jose Garcia, 51, and Paul Tapia, 45, were shot in the parking lot of Taradise Cafe.

"The next thing you know, some type of altercation happened, and the guy pulled a gun out and shot him down. That's pretty much what we know," said D.J. Jordan, a friend and co-worker of the victims.

Garcia died at the scene. Tapia was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he later died.

Detectives identified Buchanan, who also goes by the nickname “Chucky,” as the suspect. In addition to the murder warrants, Buchanan has a felony warrant for a domestic violence-no contact order, according to the sheriff's office.
