Seattle is moving on up the rankings for transit.
Redfin released its latest Transit Score Ratings on Wednesday and Seattle posted the bigged jump, going from #10 to #7, right behing Chicago.
The reason is Sound Transit. The agency complete two new light rail stations since the last ratings, the Capitol Hill and University District stations. Plus, the Seattle Department of Transportation says transit ridership jumped by 48 percent in the past seven years.
"Seattle is not only the coolest city in the country - we are now one of the most transit-friendly cities," said Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan in a news release.

Methodology
The Transit Score algorithm calculates a score by summing the relative usefulness of public transit (bus, subway, light rail, ferry, etc.) routes near a given location. Usefulness is defined as the distance to the nearest stop on the route, the frequency of the route, and type of route (with twice as much weight given to heavy/light rail than to bus service). Transit Score is based on data published in General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format by transit agencies across the country. For a more details on the Transit Score methodology, click here.
