BNSF: Mudslides disrupt passenger service north of Bellingham

Amtrak train service between Bellingham and Vancouver B.C. after a series of mudslides block the rails.

Mudslides have disrupted passenger rail service north of Bellingham since early Monday morning.

Around 5 a.m. a few mudslides blocked train tracks just north of the Canadian border, according to Gus Melonas with BNSF.

Amtrak services between Bellingham and Vancouver B.C. are on hold until Wednesday. and are scheduled to reopen at 12:45 p.m.

Freight service is back in operation, but passenger trains must wait 48 hours after a slide to resume operation.
