One ride-sharing service is changing lives by helping seniors live more independently.

Envoy America is a full-service transportation provider that gives people who can't drive a little more freedom. The company recently launched in Puget Sound, though it has drivers across the United States.

Carol Freitag recently started using the service when she needed extra help.

"It relieves me of having to be concerned about asking my children to help out – not that they wouldn't – they would," said Freitag. "But sometimes you don't want to ask. You want to maintain your independence."

Freitag uses the service to take her to appointments or the grocery store. And most importantly, she feels safe.

"I just love it," she said. "Everybody that I've met, all my drivers, have been wonderful, and I just can't say enough about it."

Drivers not only take customers to their destination, they also help them. For example, not only will drivers take customers to the doctor, they'll help them out of the car, into the office, and wait in the waiting room. The passenger can also make multiple stops, so if they want to hit the grocery store on the way home, the driver can help them through the store to make purchases.

Tina Nave started driving with Envoy America as soon as the company launched in Puget Sound. She says she likes the job and the hours, because she's a student.

"I like it because it fills a need in my life as well," said Nave. "I feel like there was something I needed to do to give back."

Nave says she might take one or two drives a day because each one takes time. She also drives for Uber on the side, but she says most of her drives are with Envoy America.

The company has service in Phoenix, Tucson, Houston, Dallas, and Seattle.
