A man whose body was found inside the trunk of a car at a Lakewood towing yard had an extensive criminal background. Detectives are investigating his death as a homicide.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said Tracy Sehmel, 49, was found Thursday afternoon in the trunk of silver Saturn sedan at Tacoma Towing on 39th Avenue SW. The sedan had been privately impounded Wednesday from the area of 97th Street and Sheridan Avenue in Tacoma.
Sehmel is believed to be from the Roy area. A background check shows Sehmel had several felony convictions including one for manslaughter in 1991.
The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner.
The is no word if suspects have been identified.
