Sammy Hagar hits the road with Dan Rather

Sammy Hagar still can't drive 55.

The rocker and one-time Van Halen frontman takes Dan Rather for a ride in his $1.3mm LaFerrari in the next episode of The Big Interview Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on AXS TV.

Hagar shows Rather how to maneuver his way into the sports car and takes him for a ride. "It's like being in the cockpit of some space shuttle," Rather says before they take off.

As Hagar buzzes around, Rather asks, "How many gallons to the mile?"

"I don't think any," Hagar says with a laugh.

As the ride comes to an end, Rather says, "For me, it's like a carnival ride."

It's not all laughs during the 90-minute interview during which Rather, who has interviewed many music legends including Willie Nelson and Russell Simmons on The Big Interview, talks with Hagar about his career and business success.

Discussing a new song Inner Child that he performs on the show, Hagar says, “It's really hard for me to sing that song, because it's very deep. It's about me. It's about my kids, about my grandkids, about my mom and dad… I've found out that all my problems are being caused in life by my inner child. That little guy that was hurt as a child, and felt those things. Even though I've accomplished everything and more than I could have ever dreamed, that little guy is still stirrin' around in there… I don't think we ever get rid of it… And I like that little guy. I've decided that I like that little guy.”

Hagar has his own AXS TV show called Rock and Roll Road Trip that debuted earlier this month. In the newest episode, Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/6 PT, Hagar tours the Grammy Museum and talks with Nancy Wilson from Heart and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains.
