Angry Orchard recalls Crisp Apple Hard Cider

Select cases of Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider are being voluntarily recalled due to refermentation, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said in a statement Wednesday.

The reason for the recall is that some bottles showed signs of refermentation, which could increase carbonation causing bottles to overflow when opened or burst.

The impacted cider poses no health risk if consumed, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and to date, no illnesses or injuries have been reported.

The FDA said that Angry Orchard is working with their wholesalers and retailers to remove all impacted cases of cider from store shelves and other retail locations as quickly as possible.

Possibly affected cases or 12-packs:

"Freshness Matters" codes, printed on the top or side panel, beginning with "June 2016 1665C" and immediately followed by 4 digits between 0001 through 0700

"Freshness Matters" codes beginning with "June 2016 1805C" and immediately followed by 4 digits between 0001 through 0545

Possibly affected individual bottles:

•Inkjet code printed directly on the glass, on the "shoulder" of the bottle just below the neck label within the ranges of C16650001 through C16650530

•Inkjet code within the ranges C18050001 through C18050415

The states affected by the recall are: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
